Dr. Christopher Taylor has a special interest in repairing broken bones and damaged joints ! As a general practitioner, he used to see many pets not getting the orthopedic care that they needed because the "pet parents" either couldn't travel to specialty centers for a referral to a board certified surgeon, or they couldn't afford fees associated with some specialty facilities.
As a result, a lot of his continuing education efforts over the years have been aimed towards learning to do as much as he can to fix orthopedic problems within a general veterinary practice.
Happily, we are able to offer a variety of orthopedic procedures here in our own hospital. Of course, we always make our clients aware that we have several excellent board certified orthopedic surgeons here in the Fraser Valley.
Aside from the more routine splints and "pin & wire" repair for fractures we also offer bone plating, and external fixatures for more complex fractures. We carry an inventory of hardware useful in many common procedures and can usually have almost anything else we need delivered overnight!
ACL or cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries are very common in our pets and constitute a large part of our orthopedic practice. There are several different ways of dealing with such injuries and we are happy to consult with you to find what approach will work best for you and your pet.
When your surgery is done, we want to help your pet recover to full function. To this end, one of our RVT's is now a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. Read more about pet "rehab" here, and some of our healing modalities like LASER, and PRP on their own pages.
