Dr. Jeffery was born and raised in Richmond, BC, with two human siblings and a host of dogs, cats, and fish.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, Dean became immersed in the world of laboratory animal medicine and research while working as a UBC animal husbandry technician.
He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree at UBC, followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. Dean then participated in two small animal internships (Toronto, Vancouver) before completing a 3-year residency in laboratory animal medicine at Cornell University.
After spending 2.5 years monkeying around at the Washington National Primate Research Center at the University of Washington, Dean is very excited to return home to finally put down roots in the Pacific Northwest. He especially enjoys surgery and neurology, as well as the great variety of animal personalities that he encounters every day in practice.
When he is not trying to help your fur-babies realize their best selves, he can be found mountain biking, trail running, back-country splitboarding, hiking, camping, water-skiing, bbq-ing, reading, or binge-watching true-crime.
