Coastal Rivers Pet Hospital

 Our Veterinary Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, Coastal Rivers Pet Hospital stresses the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

We don't just do surgery and medicine.  We can also help your pet recover with a Class IV therapeutic (cold) LASER (dogs, cats, any pet!), and therapeutic exercise featuring our state of the art Underwater Treadmill.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suites provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Our veterinarians are able to perform a wide variety of soft tissue (lump removal, laceration repair, tumor removal, bladder surgery, spay and neuter procedures, exploratory surgeries...), as well as advanced orthopedic procedures such as TPLO and bone plating.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Registered Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Nurses take pride in helping your pets have the best possible outcome from their surgical procedures.  We strive to remain at the forefront of modern pain control and anesthetic protocols: we want the best for your pets.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.

We are able to perform digital radiology for regular radiographs, as well as oral radiographs.

We have an ultrasound machine to perform diagnostic procedures here with our veterinarians, as well as travelling specialists that are able to come and perform advanced ultrasound procedures on your pet here at our hospital.

We are certified in PennHIP procedures.  Curious about your dogs hip health?  We can help find the answers!

OFA certification needed?  We can help with most of these registries for purebred dogs.  More information on the Orthopedic Foundation For Animals can be found here.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.

All dentistries are performed while being monitored by our highly trained staff to keep your pet safe and comfortable during the procedure.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

In house testing allows us earlier diagnosis in the event of an emergency, as well as preventive screening before routine elective procedures for healthy pets.

Permanent identification: We offer tattooing and microchip identification.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

We have access to several compounding pharmacies, so if your pet is difficult to medicate, we can work with you to find a formulation that may be easier to administer (flavoured liquids and transdermal gels are available for some medications).

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
