My name is Lena deJong, and I have the classic veterinarian story that, "I always wanted to be a vet when I was a child," and here I am, doing what I love!
I grew up in Langley BC with my 3 siblings, dogs and hamsters. I went to school straight out of high school, and I graduated from Calvin University in Grand Rapids Michigan in 2013 with my Bachelors of Science in Biology. I spent 2 years back home in Langley working, gaining experience in the industry, learning the crucial skills of client service and veterinary medicine. I then travelled all the way to St. Kitts in the Caribbean with my 2 cats to go to veterinary school and achieve my dream. I graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with my DVM in January 2023. I worked at several hospitals since then, growing my skills and experience, before finding a home here at CRPH!
I love all things veterinary medicine, but I have a strong passion for both nutrition, as it has a huge impact on our pets' health, as well as practicing Fear-Free medicine, allowing your pets to feel as comfortable here as possible. I enjoy animals of all shapes and sizes, but the cats do hold a dear place in my heart.
I am enjoying life back at home in Langley, close to friends and family, with my partner, and world-traveled cats, Merida and Mowgli. When I am not working, I enjoy a multitude of things including hiking, reading and a large variety of crafting (scrapbooking, painting, writing, baking).
I look forward to meeting you and of course your furry 4-legged children!
